WOOL DILEMMA

Sir, —So at last the Otago' executive of Federated Farmers has woken up to the wool monstrosity—about a month itoo late. What are they complaining about, anyway? They are such blind worshippers of the National Party that they have conferred upon it tacitly a sort of Droit Administratif. Under Labour they let the farmers’ financial reserves from meat, cheese, and butter pass into pawn to the State: now wool has gone too, and change of Government or not, each will be held to ransom for some unpalatable quid pro quo. Wool, meat and dairy boards are thoroughly indoctrinated “ yes-men.” It is no use complaining about infringements of one’s freedom or rights of ownership in a National Socialist State, even one that is selective in its depredations. —I am, etc., J. A. D. South Otago.
