Possibility Of Merger To Be Studied N ZPA—Copyright Rec. 8 p.m. NEW YORK, Dec. 13. The General Assembly today created a 12-nation committee to study the possibility of merging the United Nations Atomic Energy and Conventional Armaments Commissions. The resolution creating the committee was approved by 48 votes to 5. The Soviet bloc opposed it, while Pakistan, Indonesia and Yugoslavia abstained. The committee will consist of the 11 Security Council nations and Canada. It was directed to make recommendations to the Assembly’s 1951 session. A Soviet resolution calling for simultaneous conventions outlawing atomic weapons and establishing an international control system for atomic energy was rejected by 32 votes to 5, with 16 abstentions.
