OVERSEAS MESSAGES
Friendship Reciprocated By Pandit Nehru
PA WELLINGTON. Dec. 14. Pandit Nehru, Prime Minister of India, has sent from New _ Delhi a message to the Prime Minister, Mr Holland, saying: “ I was deeply grieved to learn of the death of Mr Peter Fraser. I had got to know him very well personally through our association in many conferences. His breadth of outlook, progressive ideas and constructive statesmanship had made a deep impression on me, and his warm friendship for me, which I fully reciprocated, was most precious to me. I send you the sincere condolence of the Government and people of India and my own on the passing away of a distinguished and lovable personality who had done much for New Zealand and the Commonwealth.” Sir Godfrey Huggins, Prime Minister of Southern Rhodesia, sent a message to Mr Holland, saying: “I was deeply grieved to learn the sad news of the death of Mr Fraser. On behalf of the Government of Southern Rhodesia, I send you our sincere sympathy in the loss of one who contributed so much to your country and to the Commonwealth.” Further messages received by the Prime Minister include ones from '.be Prime Minister of Ceylon, Mr D. S. Senanayake, and Mr J. B. Wright, Acting High Commissioner of Western Samoa, on behalf of the members of the Legistlative Assembly, Faipule, and all the people of Samoa.
