Tributes From Dunedin District
“Mr Fraser was at the head of affairs in New Zealand throughout the past war, and earned himself the greatest credit,” said the president of the Dunedin RSA, Mr K. W. Stevyart, at the meeting of the executive last night. “In international affairs, the name of Mr Fraser is held in high regard. As former servicemen, we owe a great deal to Mr Fraser’s devotion ana service to his country.” The meeting stood in silence as a mark of respect. The president of the New Zealand Library Association, Mr T. K. S. Sidey, in a statement last night, said that by the death of Mr Fraser the association had lost a good friend and its patron of several years’ standing. “The national library service, although mooted by a previous Administration, was not established until Mr Fraser’s term as Minister of Education,” he said. “The National Library Service has probably been the most important advance in New Zealand library history.”
