CHILDREN ENTERTAIN

Almost 80 children from the ages of three years upwards took part in the Christmas entertainment, “ Golden Gate.” presented by Lily Stevens’s pupils in the Concert Chamber of the Town Hall last night. The chamber was almost full, and the audience showed a full appreciation of the efforts of the children. Possibly the feature of the night was a dance by the infants— aged three, four and five years—who went to the kennels in “ Happiness Land ” after passing through the “ Golden Gate.” The story, told in ballet, was of children finding happiness and the ingredients of happiness. In the kennels, of course, the younger children found great happiness to the delight of the audience. Another dance arrangement worthy of special mention was the " ingredient ” of love, danced by Marilyn Brown (Cupid) and Ngaire Goodfellow; (boy) and Audrey Gaston (girl). ” Golden Gate ” was written and arranged by Miss Stevens and the dancing was directed by Miss Freda Padgett. The accompanist was Mrs Jean Kirk-Burn-nand.
