DUNEDIN’S COLLAPSE

Carisbrook In Strong Position

Carisbrook' showed improved batting form in its match aeainst Dunedin and compiled 248 runs in its first innings. Dunedin replied with 129 for seven wickets at stumps. ... T C. Fraser and L. A. Milnes both struck form, and each reached the forties before being dismissed. J. Valentine, going in second last, hit out merrily and had scored 43 runs when he was hit on the head by a fast full toss and retired hurt. A. C. Proctor and I. W. Gallaway also provided useful contributions to the Carisbrook total. J. M; O’Sullivan and F. Cameron bowled effectively for Dunedin. Dunedin commenced its innings in brilliant fashion, and J. O’Sullivan and L. B. Graham put on 96 in 44 minutes. After Graham had been dismissed, the batting slumped badly and seven wickets had fallen at stumps„.with the addition of a further 33 runs. O’Sullivan (45) and Graham (43) both attacked the bowling from the outset, and their innings contained many delightful forcing shots. R. Carter, the Carisbrook leg-spinner, took four for 45, and R. Harwood took two wickets in the last over of the day at a cost of 10 runs. The umpires were Messrs N. E. Warne and H. Fogarty. Scores: — Carisbrook First Innings I. W.
