OPTIMISTIC NOTE
Auckland Wool Sale HIGH PRICES EXPECTED PA AUCKLAND, Oct. 20. More than 27,000 bales of wool haa been received by Auckland stores tonight for the opening Auckland wool auction on November 13, and it is expected that catalogues for the sale will dose about the middle of next week. The allocation for the sale has been # increased from 30,000 to 35,000 bales. On the present indications of the market, said Mr H. Duke, chairman of the Auckland Wool Brokers’ Association, tonight, there was every reason for optimism that growers would receive excellent prices for their wool. The range of wools to be offered, he said, was fairly wide owing to earlier shearing, and the catalogue would, as usual, contain a fairly large percentage of hogget wools. These wdre particularly fine. Short ewe and wether wools did not appear to be as bright as last year due to slight dust, as a result of the dry winter in the Auckland province. Members of the Auckland Wool Brokers’ Association had agreed on . methods to be adopted in connection with the closing of catalogues for this season,' said Mr Duke. All wools would be offered for sale strictly in order of priority of receipt' into each wool broker’s store, and would be included in the first available auction for which they were eligible. There was to be a common closing date for all brokers, he added, and as soon as the required quantity was received into Auckland, the catalogue would be closed.
