TROTTING HANDICAPPER
Mr H. A. Pierce Resigns

An association of 30 years as handicapper to Southland trotting clubs has ended with the resignation of Mr H. A. Pierce, of Winton, as Southland handicapper to the Trotting Conference. Mr Pierce has decided to retire from his official duties after a lifetime of service to the trotting sport in Southland. From 1921 to 1933 he was both trotting and galloping handicapper for practically all the clubs in Southland. He retired from his duties as galloping handicapper, but continued to officiate as trotting handicapper with the introduction of the mechanical system. He was appointed Southland handicapper to the New Zealand Trotting Conference in 1933. Southland trotting handicaps will in future be issued from Christchurch.
