Export Of Potatoes To Sydney Hindered PA CHRISTCHURCH, Oct. 17. North Canterbury merchants could probably find 2000 tons of potatoes to ship to Sydney, where a famine is threatened, if a vessel were available, according to a Christchurch comment on a cable message from Australia Sydney’s requirements had been limited to South Canterbury crops from Timaru. Sydney had been inquiring for North Canterbury Dakotas, and would have taken them if space had been found. The Sydney message this morning stated that the last 20,000 bags were being distributed — equivalent to a week’s supply.
