PA INVERCARGILL. Oct. 17. Fat wethers brought a South Island record price of £6 Is today at the stock sale at McNab, near Gore.

Prime quality heavy-weight bullocks made up to £4O 10s; good quality handyweights, £32 to £35; medium-weights, £25 to £29; light-weights, £l9 to £22. Prime heavy cows brought up to £22; good quality young cows, £l7 to £l9; medium, £l3 to £l6; unfinished, £7 to £9.

The entry of store sheep consisted mainly of ewes and lambs with a few pens of shorn wethers. Best ewes and lambs sold to 525; other good .sorts made from 46s to 50s; and poorer were down to 345. Shorn wethers sold from 48s 6d to 55s 6d.

The store cattle yarding was the biggest handled at Lorneville since last November, totalling 876 head. The market was firm on recent sales. Best well-conditioned steers sold to £26; other good sorts, £l9 to £22 10s; smaller and poorer bred, £9 15s to £ls. Best yearling steers, sold to £l2 ss; other, £7 to £lO. Good yearling heifers made from £7 10s to £8 15s; medium sorts. £5 to £6 10s; indifferently bred, down to £3. Good empty cows sold from £8 10s to £11; others, from £6 5s to £7 10s; poorer sorts down to £3. In the dairy section best guaranteed sorts made to £22, others £lB to £2l; mediums, £lO 10s to £l4 10s; late cal vers, £5 10s to £9.

Waiareka Stock Sale

Prices for fat sheep showed a further easing over those of last week at today’s Waiareka sale. There was a small yarding. wethers drooping back from Is 6d to 2s a head, and ewes, from 2s to 3s a head. There was a medium yarding of fat cattle, prices remaining firm on latfrates. Small yardings of store cattle and store sheep met with a steady demand. Ouotations:—
