A DAY OF PRAYER

Sir, —“ Truth,” Daily Times, October 10, quotes a case of an orphanage which has kept going for 100 years without ever asking anyone for a penny. Dr Barnardo’s Homes have been kept going by advertising and organised and intensive canvassing throughout the Empire. Does “ Truth ” think that all this was unnecessary? That all Dr Bamardo and those who came after him had to do was to pray and sufficient funds would have been forthcoming? “ Truth ” also infers that through prayer God can be persuaded to take an active interest in one orphanage while remaining completely indifferent to another very much larger one. “ Truth ” is not very convincing.—I am, etc., Fiction.
