Mr J. G. Warrington, S.M., is visiting Invercargill, whel’e he will be on the Bench during the absence of Mr W. A. Harlow, S.M. Reference to the death of Mr J. H. F. Hamel was made at the meeting of the council of the Dunedin Chamber of Commerce yesterday. Members stood in silence as a mark of respect. The resignation of Mr A. E. Pyatt from the council of the Dunedin Chamber of Commerce was accepted with regret at the meeting yesterday. The council decided to ask Mr R. T. McClean to fill the vacancy. Canon D. S. Millar, vicar of Takapuna, Auckland, has been appointed rector of St. John’s Anglican Church, Invercargill. Canon Millar was ordained in 1933, as vicar of Moora, West Australia. He went to Queenstown in 1940, going to the Auckland diocese in 1942. where he has been since. He is honorary canon of St. Mary’s, Auckland, and is married with three children. He succeeds Archdeacon J. A. Lush, who has retired.
