Study By United Nations Committee

NZPA—Copyright Rec. 8 p.m. NEW YORK, Oct. 16. An Australian proposal for the appointment of a temporary committee to “ examine all available material on the probable needs of Korea for relief and rehabilitation ” was approved by the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations today. The Council defeated by 14 votes to 3 a Soviet amendment that the committee “ listen to representatives of Northern and Southern Korea ” on the question of Korean rehabilitation. A Chilean amendment that representatives of the Republic of Korea be invited to express their views before the committee was also rejected.
