CLUB OPENINGS

Both the Awamoa and Phoenix Bowling Clubs held their opening days on Saturday under ideal conditions. The president of the Awamoa Club, Mr C. Tregoning, spoke on behalf of the club, while representatives from sister clubs spoke and wished the Awamoa Club every success. Mrs Curwood, president of the Women’ Club, bowled up the first kitty, while the president’s wife, Mrs Tregoning, bowled up the first ball. At Phoenix, the president, Mr D. Wilson, declared the season open. Mrs Wilson bowled up the Colin Foster Memorial Kitty. There was a full green and all sister clubs, as well as the Waimate and Christchurch Clubs, were represented. The Wesley, Meadowbank and St. Paul’s Tennis Clubs all held their season openings on Saturday.
