DASH FOR SAFETY

Watersiders On Listing Vessel

PA NEW PLYMOUTH, Oct. 11. Several watersiders made a quick dash to safety today when the coastal vessel Waipahi took a list of between 20 and 30 degrees during unloading operations at the port of New Plymouth. Several tons of cargo stowed between decks slid over the edge of the holds and fell to the bottom of the ship where watersiders were at work. Two men jumped clear just in time as bagged bran came down. The ship was righted later by .the use of the ballast tanks, and the shifting of some of the cargo to the bottom of the holds.
