SAVED BY NEIGHBOUR

Mother And Three Children In Burning House PA AUCKLAND, Oct. 11. Affected by smoke and suffering from shock, Mrs George Thomson, of Edward street, Te Kuiti, and her three children were saved from their burning home late last night. Mr Thomson was absent in Otorohanga at the time. Neighbours saw the house on fire and sounded the alarm. The fire brigade, arriving promptly, played water on the flames, which had gained a firm control of the back of the house. As there was no sign of the occupants, a search of the house was beginning when a partner of Mr Thomson, Mr A. Scott, arrived, and, breaking a window, gained access to the smokefilled bedroom. Mrs Thomson and her three children, one a baby four months old, were found inside overcome by the smoke. The back of the house was gutted.
