FINE SCORING
New South Wales Rifle Contest DOMINION COMPETITORS 1 ’ SUCCESS NZPA—Copyright Rec. 11 p.m. , SYDNEY, Oct. 10. - Fine scoring was the main feature in the “Tuesday” aggregate of the New South Wales rifle championship meeting today. The match was shot over 700, 800 and 900 yards. The winner, H. Berman, of Sydney, scored a total of 148 out of 150. Ten possibles were scored at 700 yards, 20 at 800 yards, and three at 900 yards. J. Johnson and F. Soler, of New Zealand, scored 13 and 11-shot possibles respectively, fro fill fourth and seventh places in the 800 yards match. Other outstanding New Zealand scores were made by M. Reid with 49 at 700 yards, and H. Donald and R. Wakefield, who each shot 49 at 900 yards. The placed men in the three matches were:—
700 Yards.—M. Reid 49, I. Macdonald 48, H: Donald, J. Johnson, J. Keoghan 47.
800 Yards.—J. Johnson, F. Soler 50, S. Dyason, W. Masefield, H. Donald 49.
900 Yards.—H. Donald, R. Wakefield 49, S. Dyason, D. Fenwick 48, R. Tantrum, R. Bowie, G. Collins, S. Braid 47. In , the “Tuesday” aggregate H. Donald shot brilliantly with 47, 49, 49 —145 out of 150. Other New Zealand scores in this aggregate were:— J. Johnson, 47, 50, 46—143; R. Wakefield, 47, 45. 49 —141; I. Macdonald, 48, 47, 46—141.
The Jamieson aggregate—the main total prior to the King’s—was won by Rifleman H. James, of Sydney, with a score of 288 out of 300. The leading New Zealand scorer was R. Wakefield with 282, followed by H. Donald 281, A. Paynter 280, L. Hutchison 279, and I. Macdonald.
