RUSSIAN ARMOUR
Strengthening Of Soviet Satellites FEARS IN BELGRADE AP—NZPA—Copyright BELGRADE, Oct. h. Responsible reports have reached here that Russia has been pouring tanks and other armour into Eastern Europe’s Cominform countries at an increased rate during recent months. This build-up is said to have reached the point where the forces of Soviet satellites collectively—without • direct Russian intervention—might be able to over-run a large part of Yugoslavia in a short time.
If these reports are true, the tactics ominously duplicate those which the Russians used to arm and train the North Koreans.
The Bulgarian Government has complained to Yugoslavia of “new provocation ” by Yugoslav troops on the Bulgarian border. The Tass Soviet news agency says that a protest has been handed to the Yugoslav Ambassador in Sofia. The Note is said to have warned the Yugoslavs of the serious consequences of the alleged frontier attack.
