Cdnli\; Trophy Missing

A report that the Mills Shield, for interclub matches, could not be located was made at the annual meeting of the North Otago Bowling Centre on Thursday night. Mr H. W. Mursell, representative of the Hampden Club, which won the trophy last season, inquired as to its whereabouts. The past president, Mr W. J. Currie, said it could not be found, but it was pointed out that the Phoenix Club had won the trophy during tile previous two seasons. Mr Currie was in the chair. When speaking to the annual report, Mr Currie said that last season had been most successful, in that it was the first occasion on which the centre had won all three inter-centre trophies. Officers elected were: President, Mr D. Wilson; vice-president, Mr A. C. Murray: secretary, Mr J. Gorlett; treasurer, Mr J. H. Harris; auditor, Mr D. R. Corson: Match Committee —Messrs P. A. Hunter, W. J. Currie. D. Wilson; selector, Mr A C. Forrest. „ . , Mr R. Wilson, the South Canterbury and North Otago delegate on the Dominion Council, reported that it was decided at the annual meeting of the New Zealand Bowling Council to impose a annual levy of an extra 6d for each affiliated club, member to buildi up a fund to send a New Zealand team to the next Empire Games in Canada in 1954.—1 t was decided to pay the same levy as last year, with an extraordinary levy of Is Gd. In reply to invitations from the South Canterbury and Canterbruy Centres, it was decided to play for the Murray Bowl on February 3, and the Barnett Tiki on March 31. The date for the Waller Cup match against the Otago Centre was deferred in the meantime. The New Zealand Bowling Association advised that the British party would arrive in New Zealand in January. Less than 30 players were included, and the party would visit all centres. Centre and Club Matches It was decided to play the Easter tournament, Sydey Cup and Mills Shield competitions on the same lines as last year. The applications from clubs for permission to hold tournaments during the season was referred to the Match Committee Meadowbank Club was granted permission to hold the Elderly Bowlers' Day. The Match Committee was appointed to arrange the Veterans’ Cup Competition, and it was suggested that this be held not later than Feoruary 28. Mr J. D. Forbes suggested that the attention of clubs be drawn to.the mat rule, which, if observed, would save damage to greens. Mr G. W., Atkinson expressed the opinion that the centre should have a map defining its boundaries.—lt was agreed to write to the general secretary seeking information on this point.
