London Wool Sales NZPA—Copyright Rec. 7 p.m. LONDON, Oct. 5. The third and final week of the London September wool sales opened today before a full attendance of buyers from both the home trade and the Continent. Competition was widespread but rather less animated than in the previous week and following the easier tendencies which had been in evidence at the dominion sales. Prices generally continued to move in the, buyers’ favour.' Greasy crossbreds were, however, an exception to the general trend of prices and sold at rates fully firm on the previous week. Eight bales of early-shorn 50/48’s marked Eridge fetched 106 d. Scoured crossbreds were also in good demand and can be quoted as firm on the second week of the series. A good lot of scoured super crutchings of 44/48’s quality fetched 128 d. Slipes showed an easier tendency, lambs being generally 5 to 10 per cent, cheaper than last week, with sheep wools up to 10 per cent, cheaper. The bulk of the offering went to Bi adford, with the Continent giving good support, but American buyers were reluctant to pav ruling prices because of the falling off in the demand in the United States following on the virtual cessation of the "From the catalogue of 19,464 bales offered at today’s sales, 18,150 bales were sold The offerings included 8280 bales from New Zealand and 8988 from AusBradford quotations are:—Tons: Merino, 70’s 230 d: 64’s, 2125; 60’s, I ? 6d - Crossbreds: 56's, 156 d; 50’s, 143 d: 46 s, 141 d.
