PARTY AND POLITICS

Sir, —Every move the National Party takes is putting up the cost of living. The more one considers the position of the old and helpless, the invalids and maimed soldiers, the more mean, cruel and cowardly it appears. These are not the only people who will vote the Government out, but every fair-minded person will do so. Mr Holland said the other evening that he had not finished with this problem. If he does do anything more, the whole of the credit will go to the Labour Party for putting up such a desperate fight for them. They have increased the salaries of men getting well over £IOOO a year. The average person today has just got to sit at home in his spare time. It takes him all his time to live, and he can do nothing about it, and then the Government put up the fares on the trains and road services to make up the loss in revenue. The National Party will go down in history as the stagnation party. They have made it quite impossible for young people to start up in life today. The cost of building has gone up 40 per cent, at least. The fault with party politics is that good men are forced on one side and replaced by upstarts. Tire workers would never do the same day’s work for the present Minister of Works as they would do for Mr Semple, because they liked the man because he was just one of themselves.—I am, etc., Whoa Neddie.
