RIFLE SHOOTING
Australia Beats New Zealand Rec. 11.5 p.m. SYDNEY, Oct. 6. The Commonwealth teams’ match was fired today in difficult weather conditions at the Anzac rifle range. Steady rain during the morning had many marksmen in trouble. Ten shots were fired under coached conditions over 300, 600, 700 and 900 yards. Out of the possible of the teams’ score of 2000, Australia made 1835 to better New Zealand’s total of 1801. In the inter-state scores, Victoria was the winner, with 1851, followed by New South Wales (1847) and Queensland (1843). New Zealand team’s scores were: F. Jeune 187, J. Johnson 185, J. Keoghan 184, R. McVicar 182, A. Paynter 181, F. Soler 181, L. Hutchison 178, R. Tantrum 178, T. Pritchard 174, I. Macdonald 171. The New South Wales individual championships commence next Monday.
