ORDERED TO KOREA

Third Dominion Frigate ROTOITI TO RELIEVE PUKAKI PA AUCKLAND, Oct. 5. On Saturday Auckland will bid farewell to the third of the New Zealand frigates to join the United Nations naval forces in Korean waters. Commanded by Lieutenant-commander B. E. Turner, RNZN, the Rotoiti will leave to relieve her sister ship Pukaki. Trim and fresh after her refit, the Rotoiti has required few alterations for active service duty. The only obvious indications of her intended entry into a zone of war are two large Union Jacks painted fore and aft on the superstructure for air identification. Every effort has been made by the naval supply branch to give a happy Christmas to officers and ratings servin the two absent frigates. New Zealand lamb, turkeys and other delicacies carried in the Rotoiti will bring a touch of cheer to the cold northern season. In the absence of several ships of the New Zealand Squadron on duty overseas, the squadron’s spring exercises this year will be on a limited scale. The only ships taking part will be the cruiser Bellona and the Royal Navy frigates St. Austell Bay and Veryan Bay. The Post Office will insure parcels, but not register them. Packets can be either registered or insured, but in excess of lib. packets are treated as parcels.
