HOMING PIGEON RACE The Taieri Homing Pigeon Club held a race from Kaikoura last week. The winning bird flew the 295 miles in 4hr 53min. Results:—F. C. Johnson’s Dark Chief, 1746 yards a minute, 1; S. Johnson’s Comet, 1742, 2; C. B. Atkinson’s Scotty Mac, 1736, 3; W. Gamble’s Dundee Sandy, 1722, 4; W. Coughlan’s Arrow Lee, 1713, 5. The next race will be from Christchurch on Saturday. HEALTH STAMP SALES Sales of health stamps for the first day in Mosgiel amounted to £209 15s. PERSONAL At a meeting of the Mosgiel Borough Council last night the Mayor, Mr W. P. Hartstonge, extended the congratulations of the council to Mr and Mrs John Elder on the attainment of the sixty-fifth anniversary of their wedding day. MILK COMMITTEE Mr J. F. McCartney was in the chair at the monthly meeting of the Mosgiel Milk Committee last night. Members of the Borough Council and Mr G. Stevenson (Taieri County Council) were present. It was decided that public notice should be given of applications for licences, sd that objections might be lodged if desired.
