TEKAPO HYDRO-ELECTRIC WORKS

Good Progress Made

Good progress is being made on the hydro-electric works at Lake Tekapo. The coffer, dam at the tunnel intake is now under construction (above). When this has been been completed, the final work on the tunnel will be carried out. Much of the machinery has been installed in «<the nearly-com-pleted power house at the opposite end of the tunnel. In the foreground of the photograph (right) the massive foundation and base of the 25,200 k.w. English generator is shown. As soon as it is completed, the generator will be assembled in position.
