APPEAL FOR CHILDREN

Closing At End Of Week ALMOST £IB,OOO RAISED IN DUNEDIN DISTRICT The United Nations Appeal for Children will have run its course by the end of this week, and generally throughout New Zealand the contributions to date fall far short of the various district quotas, In the Dunedin district a total of almost £IB,OOO has been raised to date, and this is the highest figure collected in any district in the Dominion. The Dunedin district quota, however, is higher than those for many smaller districts, so that, as Dunedin has raised only about 40 per cent, of its quota, it is at present in sixth place on the Dominion ladder. Donations to the appeal in the Dunedin district are still being received, and those made by post may still be addressed to the private box at the Chief Post Office. Spine of the recent donations received have been £B2 (a day’s pay) from staff at the Dunedin Public Hospital, £25 from the National Insurance Company, £9 from the staff of the Price Control Office in Dunedin, £5 from Reddells, and £3 19s 5d from the pupils of the Waipori Falls School.
