A LOST DOG
Sir, —1 would like to ask “ Justice ” a few questions referring to dogs. (1) Does “ Justice ” consider that a dog should be permitted to roam the streets (lost or otherwise) off the leash? I have seen dogs polluting milk bottles which were left on steps or at the gates of residences —is that a “fair go”? "Justice must admit that there is plenty of evidence that dogs pollute the streets. Does i*e consider that this should be permitted? I like an intelligent dog, but I consider that in New Zealand a sheep dog is about the most useful and. of course, his place is in the country. Dogs should nqt be permitted in the city area Their barking is a nuisance and must be a worry to mothers with young children. Children are to be considered. The Traffic Department is doing a good job, very good indeed, and it is just a pity that they do not enforce the law more drastically. Every time a tradesman enters our street the dogs start up, and “ Justice ” should hear them when the postman’s whistle is blown. —-I am. etc.. Common Sense.
