Employees’ Award
PA WELLINGTON, Sept. 20. An-extension of the scale for male workers to 16 years instead of 14 as in the past is provided in a new award issued by the Court of Arbitration for the New Zealand shipping companies’ clerical employees. The minimum rate in the sixteenth year is £525 (previously £483 was paid in the fourteenth year). Increases of up to £l2 a year have been granted to all male employees, and up to £lO to female clerical workers. Slight increases have been granted in overtime rates and in board allowance to junior officers on transfer and messengers’ rates have been increased by £ls a year in the highest rate of £383. The award will apply to all male officers receiving less than £550 a year, and all female officers receiving less than £385. The general conditions remain unchanged! The wages rates, which are subject further to the court’s interim general order of June 10, are retrospective to September 1 and other clauses are operative as from yesterday.
