Strong Riccarton Team For Wingatui

Special to the Daily Times CHRISTCHURCH, Sept. 20. Nearly 30 horses from Riccarton will be racing at the Dunedin meeting and they make a strong team, with representatives in every race on the programme. Some of "them went south this morning, while the remainder will travel tonight. J. S. Shaw’s four—Royalcille, • Boost, and the two-year-olds, Montana and Sea Hawk —went by train this morning, when C. C. McCarthy sent Helio and Puck.

Trainers who sent their teams by float were: C. G. Humphries—My Hero, Robin Dayes, Robbie, Pukka Sahib; G. S. Barr— Graeme, Lights On, Our Ruth; F. D. Jones, Johnny Peep, Infanta; and L. J. Ellis, Whittaker and Dark Courage.

Trainers who are expected to leave by train tonight are: W. Barr—Langham. Prince Defaulter, Sharessa; G. Ridgway— Bob’s March, Hobgoblin, Ned Kelly, Robin Redbreast; M. J. Wadley, Springwater, Touchwood two-year-old; A. B. Stove, Gleneagles; R. W Wilson, Clair de Lune.

Most of these horses will race on the first day, but Sharessa will make the trip only for the Dunedin Guineas, on the second day, when she will be ridden by N. A. Crombie.

Beaumont Racing Club The annual meeting of the Beaumont Racing Club was held on Tuesday and was attended by 38 members. The annual report and balance sheet, which showed a loss on the season’s operations, were adopted. Mr R. Wood, owner of the property on which the club races, tendered his resignation as a member. It was decided to request Mr Wood to reconsider his decision.

On being nominated for the position ol president, Mr D. D. McPherson stipulated that he would accept the position only if there was no change in the secretaryship. The position was that tha secretary, Mr J. H. Carroll, for personal reasons, tendered his resignation to tha committee in July, but agreed to continue in office until the annual meeting. Mr Carroll said the apointment of the secretary was a matter for the committee and he was prepared to discuss tha position with the incoming committee. Mr McPherson was then declared elected as . president unopposed.

Messrs J. F. Harris and W. Varcoe were elected vice-presidents and the successful candidates for five vacancies on tha committee were—Messrs E. V. Pearson, ?- J. Beel, J. A. Brydie, T. J. Tubman and W. B. Naylor. Mr L. G. de la Parrelle was reappointed auditor. The president stated that a tender had been let for alterations to the totalisator building for the purpose of selling win-and-place tickets.
