UNIFIED FORCE

Atlantic Council Agreement NZPA—Copyright Rec. 8.20 p.m. NEW YORK, Sept. 18. The North Atlantic Council tonight announced that it warmly welcomed the proposal for a combined military force to defend Europe against aggression. The Foreign Ministers •of the North Atlantic Treaty nations decided to ask their Governments _ for advice on how to put such a plan into effect. The 12-member council has gone into recess while these consultations take place, but it will meet again within the next two weeks. It is understood that all the Ministers agreed in principle on the idea of a unified European force. When the Council ended, a meeting of the Big Three Ministers, Mr Dean Acheson, Mr Ernest. Bevin and M. Robert Schuman, began what was expected to be the last of their current series of talks.
