TWO ATTRACTIONS
Visitors To Wharves FRIGATE AND TROLLEY BUS Although no watersiders were present, the wharves by no means wore a deserted appearance yesterday afternoon. Crowds of people took advantage of the bright sunshine 'to stroll along the waterfront, mainly to see the Royal Navy frigate, St. Austell Bay, and the first trolley bus for Dunedin, which is on the foredeck of the freighter Wairimu. Secondary school children had the opportunity of visiting the frigate at the Birch street wharf between the hours of 4 and 6 p.m. yesterday, because of the restricted time available to them to inspect the ship today after 1 school. Nevertheless they will not be precluded from visiting the vessel again this afternoon, when it will be open to all visitors between 2 and 5 p.m. Sailors on duty will be on hand to answer any questions by the public on the armament and other details of the frigate. Officers and men of the frigate said yesterday that they were enjoying their stay in Dunedin, not only because of the, hospitality, but ,also because of the weather. A party was taken for a sight-seeing tour of the city and the Peninsula yesterday. The new trolley bus also attracted a good deal of attention. Because of its size and bright colours of cream' and Sahara tan it is clearly visible for some distance. How long it will remain on the ship depends on when the waterfront dispute is settled.
