New Records Set For Crutchings

The first sale of the new wool season in Dunedin—the crutchings auction on August 14 last—set fresh records. According to figures released by the Dunedin Woolbrokers’ Association yesterday the 5439 bales sold realised £396,073 14s 7d which was an average price of 53.4 d per lb and £73 12s 8d per bale. These figures for a crutchings sale have never been approached.
