DASHING DISPLAY

Royal Dollar’s Chances Enhanced Special to the Daily Times INVERCARGILL, Sept. 19. Horses with engagements at the Dunedin meeting were hurried along in their work at Invercargill this morning, but there was not a great deal of activity. The extreme outside of the course proper was open, but the going was slow after overnight rain. Royal Dollar gave a dashing display over four hurdles. He was matched with Great Bid, who did not jump too well at the first two obstacles, but with more speed on, he completed the last two in his stride. Royal Dollar promises to develop useful jumping form. Whinny was clear of the two-year-old Arabic in a dash over three furlongs, the last two in 26 2-ssec, a useful effort. Night Rider and Screw Picket worked together over a mile, the last six furlongs in lmin 27sec. Night Rider appears sharpened up by his race last week, but Screw Picket is not at home on holding ground. Salmon Spear worked strongly over a round. He appears to have done well since he raced at Wingatui earlier in the month. Ladv Claret hit out freely in moving off from the seven furlongs, and after being joined by Current about the two, she ran the last six in lmin 22sec, and the last half in 55sec. Lady Claret will not be long in striking top form. Salma Chief was doing better than Rustle-Along over half a mile in 57sec.
