CONCERT TO BE HELD

Toko District High School The principal subject for discussion at the monthly meeting of the Toko District High School Committee was the recommendation from the Parent-Teachers’ Association that the annual break-up concert be abandoned. Several speakers made reference to the opinions expressed by parents since the decision of the Parent-Teachers’ Association was published, and these had all been strongly in favour of the concert being retained. — It was unanimously resolved that the concert be held as usual this year. The headmaster, Mr K. J. Shrimpton, reported that the roll numbers continued to increase, the total in the primary department being 334, with 60 in the secondary department. This would mean a higher grading for the school, and another teacher and additional classrooms would be required.—lt was decided to make an application to the Education Board for additional accommodation to be provided by the beginning of next year. It was also decided to suggest that the new accommodation be designed with due regard to the new school, which it was hoped would be built eventually.
