Record Price For Prime Woolly Wethers Special to tile Daily Times OAMARU, Sept. 19. A local record price for prime woolly wethers of 100 s 9d was obtained at the Waiareka sale today. Over the past two sales prices have approached 100 s, but this is the first occasion on which that mark has been passed. The pricq was Is higher than the record local price established two weeks ago. There was a large yarding of fat sheep, with prices for woolly lines firm on late rates. A line of outstanding well-woolled wethers brought from 98s 9d to 100 s 9d, while medium woolly sheep and shorn wethers were 2s to 3s lower compared with last W A medium yarding of fat cattle was auctioned, with a decline in prices in all sections. Prime bullocks dropped 10s to £1 a head, medium bullocks by £1 to £1 10s a head, and fat cows by £1 10s to £2 a head. Quotations:— Fat Cattle.—Bullocks: Prime heavy, £34 2s 6d to £3B; prime, £26 7s 6d to £29 7s 6d; medium, £23 17s 6d to £25 17s 6d; light, £ls 17s 6d to £l7 2s 6d. Heifers: Prime, to £22 17s 6d; medium, £l3 17s 6d to £l4 17s 6d; light, to £7 17s 6d. Cows: Prime, £l2 17s 6d to £l4 2s 6d; light, £7 17s 6d to £9 7s 6d. Store Cattle.—Yearling heifers, £3 5s to £4; yearling steers, £7; dairy cattle cows, £8 to £ll. Fat Sheep.—Wethers: Extra prime heavy woolly, 97s 6d to 100 s 9d; prime, 83s fid to 91s 3d; medium, 76s 3d to 78s 9d; shorn wethers, 51s 9d to 55s 9d; medium, 47s 3d to 50s 3d. Ewes: Shorn maiden, 35s 9d to 43s 9d; prime woolly, 56s 9d to 64s 9d; medium, 45s 9d to 48s 9d; prime shorn, 30s 9d to 35s 9d; light, 25s 9d to 29s 9d. Fat hoggets: 44s 9d to 63s 9d. Store Sheep.—A pen of four-tooth shorn wethers, 48s 6d; a pen of woolly wether hoggets, 60s 6d. Pigs.—Weaners, 45s to 655. LORNEVILLE MARKET PA INVERCARGILL. Sept. 19. Store sheep brought high prices at the Lorneville stock sale today, and ewe hoggets realised up to 101 s 6d. Store and good-quality fat cattle sold- well. Woolly fat sheep brought higher prices, and shorn wethers were cheaper. The store sheep yarding was small, and values were high in the face of a ready demand. Tire store cattle demand was good, and the market steady for a yarding which was bigger than last week’s. Fat Cattle.—ln a big yarding the greater proportion were light and unfinished sorts. Good-quality sorts sold at late rates and unfinished sorts were easier. Fat Sheep.—ln an exceptionally big yarding most of the entry was short. A few pens of woolly wethers sold at better than late rates, but shorn wethers were 3s to 4s easier.
