SOLID WRESTLING
PA AUCKLAND, Sept. 18. Earl McCready (Canada), I7st 61b, retained his British Empire title by defeating Arjan Das (India), 18st 61b, by the only fall in a professional wrestling contest in the Town Hall tonight. He had a narrow escape when Das had his sleeper hold well applied when the gong went for the finish of the seventh round. ‘ McCready gained his fall in the third round with a combined chest and shoulder scissors, which he calls the “ octopus death clamp.” Das soon submitted. The bout was characterised by solid wrestling for at least six rounds. <
