THE RAINFALL Mr F. G. Russell. Till street, reported yesterday that 32 points of rain fell on Sunday morning and a further 63 points to 9 a.m. yesterday, making a total of 153 points for the month. POWER FAILURE MYSTERY s While the board was unable to ascertain the exact cause of the long interruption to the power supply on June 27, the evidence of two consumers indicated that the seat of the trouble was in Cheimer street, stated the engineer, Mr N. A. Davidson, in his report to the Waitaki Electric Power Board yesterday. STEEL RECEIVED During the last month, the Waitaki Electric Power Board had received 21 tons of steel. The engineer. Mr N. A. Davidson, stated at the board's meeting yesterday that this was a long-outstanding order. The board, he said, used between 50 and 60 tons of steel a year at its pole factory. SHORTAGE OF WIREMEN When reporting that a considerable decline in turnover should be expected because of the loss of wiring staff, the engineer, Mr N. A. Davidson, said at yesterday’s meeting of the Waitaki Electric Power Board that no replies had been received to advertisements. He stated that if the board lost two or three more men it would be ” getting near the danger point."
