DELEGATES WELCOMED

Soccer In North Otago MEETING OF ASSOCIATION A deputation from North Otago—Messr* R. Hector, W. Davis, T. Cowels and W. Beveridge—which was present at a meeting of the Management Committee of the Otago Football Association last night, described the difficulties under which the code was working in North Otago. The Otago Association assured the delegatee that it would watch with interest activities in North Otago and fully appreciated their difficulties. The deputation reported that an under 12 years Soccer tournament, open to all teams in the South Island, was to be held In the August holidays.—The deputation was informed that the Otago State Primary Schools’ Association was conducting a tournament during the August holidays, and that was probably the reason why no team had been • entered from Dunedin. The Roslyn-Wakari Football Club wrote forwarding a protest to be sent to the New Zealand Football Council. The club had been instructed by the Otago Association to change its club colours when it next played Training College. There was some confusion over the position and Roslyn-Wakari wanted ’ definite ruling.— It was decided to Inform Roslyn-Wakari that the appeal could not be sent, unles* £ 1 accompanied the appeal. A letter to the Appointments Board we* received from Mr F. T King, in which he stated that several members of the Referees’ Club had been successful in passing their theory and oral tests. Mr King expressed his willingness to referee Second Grade games and thus make a First Grade game available for the referees concerned. They would require all the experience they could obtain before sitting for the field test.
