NEW ASSISTANT SECRETARY

Amalgamated Society Of Railway Servants PA WELLINGTON, July 24. Mr W. T. Johansen, of Wellington, has been elected assistant general secretary of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants. Four days were required. to count the votes in the secret national ballot. Ten’candidates went to the poll, which was conducted on the preferential system, and the successful applicant did not gain the required absolute majority until, the final count after eight of the candidates had been eliminated, it was announced today by the general secretary of the ASRS. Mr J. S. Berry.
