NEW CONSTITUTION
Dunedin Bowling Centre MEETING OF DELEGATES “There has been no departure from the established authority of this centre," said Mr D. J. Simpson when detailing • certain changes that had been made in the rules at a meeting of delegates to the Dunedin Bowling Centre on Saturday night. A motion that the printed rules be submitted to the forthcoming annual meeting as the new constitution of the Dunedin Bowling Centre was passed unanimously. The chairman, Mr A. Dodds, thanked Mr Simpson and his small committee for the immense amount of time that they had devoted to the examination of the new constitution. “The work has been long and arduous," Mr Simpson replied, “ but *t has been both interesting and instructive.’’ In moving the adoption of the statement of accounts of the retiring executive, the treasurer, Mr E. D. Smyth, said that a record amount of income to the extent of £145 was shown in the annual accounts. This was a record surplus, but the visits of overseas bowling teams couia be expected in the future, and the printing of the rules would account for a particularly heavy expenditure. ’ The executive’s annual report, which covered the activities of the year, and the statement of accounts, were adopted. “The annual meeting of the New Zealand Bowling Council was quite a ‘ sticky ’ one,” Mr W. O. Clark, a vicepresident of the council, told delegates. “ The two Dunedin councillors, Messrs D J. Simpson and E. D. Smyth, had their material thoroughly prepared and acquitted themselves with honour,” he said. The three Dunedin Centre representatives at the annual meeting then gave a full account of the business that had been carried
out in Wellington. It was the general opinion that persons under the age ox 30 years should not be admitted to bowling clubs, except where there wa» a medical reason. It had been reluctantly decided to discontinue publication of the New Zealand Bowling Journal because of .financial difficulties. Mr Dodds thanked the speakers for their excellent work.
