South Outpoints North

PA AUCKLAND, July 16. The South Island Rugby League representatives had a splendid victory over the North Island on a heavy ground at Carlaw Park on Saturday. Sduth Island scored 19 points (three .tries, two converted and three penalty goals), to North Island’s 12 (four tries). South’s victory was thoroughly deserved as the North Island led 12—5 at half time. A splendid recovery by the South Island in the second half, when it added 14 points, was a fitting climax to a stirring match. The ground was greasy after heavy rain, and the attendance was estimated at between 7000 and 8000. A feature of the game was the splendid forward play of the South Island, which revelled in the conditions.
