WIN FOR PICKWORTH
Irish Open Golf Title TWO-STROKE VICTORY NZPA—Copyright LONDON, July 14. The Australian, H. (Ossie) Pickworth, was mobbed by thousands of cheering Irishmen when he holed a long putt for an eagle 3 on the eighteenth green to win the Irish Open Golf Championship with an aggregate of 287 on the Royal Dublin links at Dollymount today. Rounds of 70, 74, 73 and 70 gave Pickworth a two-stroke victory over his fellow-countryman, Norman von Nida, and the Scottish champion, John Panton, who came to the fore with a record-breaking final round of 68. In a thrilling final round Pickworth, von Nida, Carr (the Irish Walker Cup player), and the former Australian. Bill Shankland, stood on level terms with only nine holes to play.
