SCHOOL CADETS

Small Allocation For Training

The amount allocated for school cadet training was so small that the cadet system was in danger of going out of existence, stated Mr A. W. Barnett, reporting to a general meeting of RSA members last evening on the work of the Defence Committee at the NZRA Conference. The conference had felt, he said, that school cadet training was needed for the provision of potential n.c.o.’s under the compulsory training scheme, and had decided to make representations to the Government. .The meeting last night was called to hear the reports of the delegates, to the conference. It was pleasing to report, said Mr D. L. Woods, that, with the exception of the lands and housing sections, there had been few problems of major importance before the conference. A very considerable number of remits had been discussed, and it was felt that, on previous experience. they would be given every consideration when submitted to the Government.
