COUNTRY CRICKET

Association’s Interest MEETING NEXT WEEK The committee of the Otago Cricket Association held a short meeting last night to carry out routine “ off-season ” business. Mr C. W. Welham also presented an interim report on country week cricket, but this will be dealt with more fully on June 6. when members will meet the country delegates. Included in the correspondence was a letter from the Wellington Cricket Association suggesting that the Plunket Shield match between the two provinces be played during February. After it had been mentioned that no home matches would be played at either Christmas or New Year, and that there was a possibility of a from the MCC in March, it was decided to reply stating that the original date, which was fixed for early in January, would be more suitable. A request by the Manawatu Association that the Otago team play a match there during its northern tour was referred to the Fixtures Committee. The Otago Softball Association was granted permission to use the University Oval between January 3 and January 12. when the national tournament will be held.
