MARRIED WORKING WOMEN
Sir,—l would like to say *J good luck ” to all married working women. In nearly every case married women have a good reason for going to work. Some young wives take the opportunity to earn a little to help to furnish their homes before they start to rear a family. Many a woman of middle age sets out to earn some money while she still has the ability to work in order to help things along when she and her husband have to live on the age benefit. As long as labour is in short supply industry will welcome married women workers.
I would like to point out to " Country ” that a husband need not lose his pride although his wife goes out to work. If both are satisfied with these arrangements there the matter ends, and it Is nobody’s, business. “ Country ” seems to think that gratitude is enough for work done, but let me tell her that gratitude disappears quicker than money.—l am, etc.. Not One of Them. Balclutha.
