PENSION INCREASES
Mr Hayman Hints At Amount Special to the Daily Times OAMARU, May 31. A deputation h,ad waited on Mr T. L. Hayman, M.P., pointing out the need for an increase in all pensions because of the rise in the cost of essential goods. Mr Hayman had assured the deputation that a grant of at least 5s a week would be given. This was stated by Mr A. F. Stock, secretary, at a recent meeting of the North Otago Beneficiaries and Old Folks’ Association.
The meeting discussed the increase in the cost of living brought about by the removal of subsidies. A motion that the Government be requested to immediately grant an increase of not less than 10s a week to all pensioners, was carried.
