SPARKLING BATTING
West Indies Eleven / MATCH AGAINST SURREY NZPA —Copyright Rec. 7.10 p.m. LONDON, May 13. The West Indies commenced their first London match —a three-day game against Surrey at Kensington Oval—in ideal conditions today. The visiting captain, Goddard, won the toss and elected to bat. With spectacular fielding and accurate bowling, Surtey attempted to stifle run-getting by the Indians. The first hour yielded only 35 runs, and only 90 for the loss of two wickets were on the board at lunch.
