American Navy To Show The Flag In Troubled Orient

PEARL HARBOUR, Rec. 0.15 a.m. May 12,

A United States task force of 20 warships will leave Pearl Harbour today and tomorrow to carry the American flag to the troubled ' Orient. The force will take along the first United States Navy jet planes to make an appearance over Communist-threatened Asia. Vice-Admiral Calvin T. Durgin, commander of the Pacific First Fleet and temporary chief of the task force, told reporters: “You know what showing our flag did to heighten democratic hopes in the Mediterranean—that is what we plan to do in the Western Pacific.”
