Sutcliffe Wins Redpath Cup BOWLING TROPHY AWARDED TO CRESSWELL PA CHRISTCHURCH, May 12. Bert Sutcliffe (Otago), who easily headed the average in the 1949-50 Plunket Shield series, has been awarded the Redpath Cup for batting, and G.’ F. Cresswell (Wellington) has won the Winsor Cup for bowling. The awards were announced today by the Management Committee of the New Zealand Cricket Council. With a total of 569 runs for three Plunket Shield matches in the season, Sutcliffe broke the previous record of 537 established by J. S. Hiddlestone, of Wellington. His figures were; Innings 5, not out 0; highest score 355, aggregate 569, average 113.80. The brilliant left-hander made 29 and 17 against Wellington, 355 ag:ainst Auckland. and 117 and 51 against Canterbury. Although R. R. McK. Murray, also of Wellington, took the most wickets (13) in the series, Cresswell’s figures reveal outstanding consistency. They are: Overs 185.4, maidens 80, runs 204, wickets 12. average 17.000.
