Mr and Mrs R. C. B. Greenslade have left for a short holiday at Te Anau. Professor and Mrs Odell will be Easter guests of Mr and Mrs H. L. Cook, at Wan aka. Mr and Mrs A. C. Mclnnes, of Tlmaru, wil be the guests of Mrs C. F. Roberts, Norfolk street, St. Clair, for the Easter holidays. Miss Mabel Steel, of Wellington, and Miss E. J. D. Turner, of HaVelock North, who are on a painting tour of the South Island, visited Dunedin yesterday on their way to Central Otago. Guests welcomed by the president, Mrs Richard Hudson, at the Travel Club yesterday morning were: Mrs Menzies, Glasgow; Miss M. Feltham, Winnipeg; Mrs E. White, Auckland: Mrs Mawson, Napier; Mr and Mrs J,agger, Christchurch; and Mrs S. G Johnston, Oretl. On Friday last a pleasant function was held by the staff of the Electricity Department to bid farewell to Miss Anne Green, who has retired after many years’ service. The city electrical engineer, Mr G. T. Edgar, made a presentation from the employees of the department, and conveyed to Miss Green the best wishes of the staff. The Home Science alumnae held their annual meeting at St. Helens Hostel recently. Dr Helen Thomson was elected president and Miss P. Jackson vice-presi-dent. Committee members elected were: Mrs A. Douglas, Mrs J. Kempthorne, Mrs O. G. Cox, Miss McGimpsey. Miss Domigan, and Miss P. Murray (secretary). Recent hostesses at parties given for Miss Ngaire Skinner, whose marriage to Mr Ralph Every Smith will take place this month, have been Mrs Allan Meldrum, Mrs Roy H. Fraser, Mrs Keith Skinner. Mrs Arthur Barnett, Mrs H. C. Harford, Mrs Huntly Skinner, Miss Joan Campbell and Miss Pamela Grayson. A delightful afternoon was held recently by the members of the Watea Croquet Club to entertain their honorary members. During the afternoon the president, Mrs Rayner, took the opportunity to say farewell to Mrs Slater, who has taken up residence in the North Island. She also congratulated Mesdames Mercer (club champion), Lattimer and Little, who gained places in the recent tournament, and presented them with a small gift and a spray of flowers. The winners of the various competitions were Mesdames Bond, Curtis, Mazey, and Miss M. Park.
